ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਭਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਨ 1762 ਈ: ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਲੇਰਕੋਟਲਾ (ਸੰਗਰੂਰ) ਨੇੜੇ ਕੁੱਪ ਰਹੀੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਆਰੰਭ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੁਤਬਾ ਬਾਹਮਣੀਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਿੰਡ ਗਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਉਪਰ ਅਹਿਮਦ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਬਦਾਲੀ ਤੇ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਦਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਬੜਾ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਯੁੱਧ ਹੋਇਆ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ‘ਵੱਡਾ ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰਾ* ਕਰਕੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ‘ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ* ਦੀ ਅਗੰਮੀ ਧੁਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਰਮਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਹੋਰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਪਰਪੱਕ ਜਾਣਿਆ।
